'Cool Down' Bracelets

CoolDownBracelets wesens-art.blogspot.com
Hot summer? Try this bracelets!
They are made out of recycled materials and ingredients that you have at home!

I think most of you know this kind of water ice (freezies).
But we only need the empty packages.
Ich denke, die Meisten kennen dieses Wassereis.
Aber wir brauchen nur die leeren Verpackungen.
CoolDownBracelets wesens-art.blogspot.com
Make your own unfreezable ice gel. I've used this recipe:
3 cups water, 1/2 cup salt and 3/4 cup corn starch.
Heat up the water in a pot, put salt in the water and stirr until it dissolve. Than put the corn starch into it and stirr until it the right consistency is reached.
Fill the empty ice packaging about half with the gel.
Let it cool down before the next step.
Mach dein eigenes Eis-Gel.

Put a sheet of baking paper on a glass panel and place the open end of the ice packaging on the edge.
Fold the baking paper over it.
Das Backpapier darüber falten.

Use the hot iron to seal the packaging.
(Only the end of the packaging between the baking paper!)

Now it's sealed and you can put it in the freezer!

For the bracelet you need fabric scraps and pieces of velcro.
Fürs Armband braucht man Stoffreste und Stücke Klettband.
CoolDownBracelets wesens-art.blogspot.com
Cut the fabric 7 cm longer than your wrist circumference and about three times as wide as the ice gel pad.
Sew the loop (soft) side of the velcro on the upper side of the fabric (as shown in the next photo).
Fold the fabric and stitch along the longer side.
'Open' the fabric and iron the seams flat in the middle.
Sew along the open end, not the end with the velcro!
Cut the edges.
Die Ecken abschneiden.
CoolDownBracelets wesens-art.blogspot.com
Turn the fabric inside out and sew the hook (rough) side of the velcro onto the closed edge (back of the bracelet).
If your ice gel pad is cooled place it into your bracelet.
Wear it on the outer side of your wrist...
Auf der Oberseite des Handgelenks tragen...
CoolDownBracelets wesens-art.blogspot.com
...or on the inner side (which cools more)!
...oder an der Unterseite (kühlt mehr)!
CoolDownBracelets wesens-art.blogspot.com
 Not cold enough?
Make 3 drops of peppermint essential oil on the inner side of the bracelet as shown in the next photo.
 Make one for each wrist.
Eins für jedes Handgelenk.
CoolDownBracelets wesens-art.blogspot.com
Make two bracelets together and you can cool your neck!
Zwei zusammen können den Hals kühlen!

  15. ohhhhh neat!! I haven't heard of this but so cool!! no pun intended. Wow it is so hot here this is something we must try and the fact you get to eat the pop first is great :) we actually keep some of these in the freezer year round - great low cal snack and cooling if you are a bit over heated. So cool to use the empty wrapper to keep you cool anytime! I bet you could lay them across your eyes (without the oil) too for soothing swollen allergy eyes?
