Decorations out of Balsa Wood

BalsaWoodDeco wesens-art.blogspot.com
Did you know that it can be so easy to make beautiful decorations out of balsa wood?
For the windows, walls, doors, as gifts or quick gift tags!
What I have used:
balsa wood (3mm)
(balsa wood, not plywood!)
Mixed Media metal dies
die cutting machine
stamp (my own Silhouette Mint Stamp)
needle & thread
Was ich benutzt habe:
Balsaholz (3 mm)
(Balsaholz, kein Sperrholz!)
Mixed Media Stanzschablonen
Präge- und Stanzmaschine
Stempel (meinen Silhouette Mint Stempel)
Nadel & Faden

Cut out the butterflies and leaves with a die cutting machine.
(Balsa wood is so soft that you can also cut it with a knife!)

Decorate the butterflies (on both sides) with stamps. I used a tiny stamp with colored flowers to give it a vintage look.

Balsa wood is so soft that you can pull the thread with a needle through it!

  2. This looks like a really fun project. Just a question if you don't have a die cutter do you just cut it with a exacto knife and template?

    1. You can use a cutting knife, exacto knife or just scissors! Draw the template with a pencil on the balsa wood and cut it out.

  5. I've never thought of using balsa wood, but that's a great idea! It's light weight so it would be great for ornaments. I love the gift tags idea, that would be cute and be great for making magnets as well.
